Watching the Sonoma race today, all I saw were 'next week, we're under the lights at Daytona', 'next week is Daytona under the lights' and the Pepsi 400 commercial where the guy is talking about his first race when Richard Petty won and it was called the "Firecracker 400" before the "Pepsi 400". I so cannot wait for Daytona! I want to be there right now but can't. I wanted to do other things around the area and kill a couple of days but the "tentative" schedule is:
-Friday night: Going to Orlando to the hotel
-Saturday morning: Going to Daytona
-Sunday morning: Coming back from Daytona
-Sunday late morning/afternoon: Going to Daytona USA
I feel everything is rushed. I wanted to go to the Busch race and root for both Martin Truex Jr. and Dale Jr., I wanted to go around the Daytona area to hit up some hot spots to kill some time, go to Daytona USA before the crowd is there, find the Daytona dirt/sand track where they used to race on the beach, go to the Flea Market, see some establishments, visit NASCAR's building and whatever but I can't. Maybe next year when I get a job and everything, I'll make it a trip for the week and enjoy the racing week there.
I don't know if I'm prepared enough for the race. I bought a bag where I can stuff shit in it, 3 rolls of film which takes 75 pics, extra batteries, and other junk to be prepared of. Louis is bringing his soft sided cooler, his car [duh] and his camcorder to record some stuff. I'm worried about the weather for the weekend. Because if it's raining and stuff, I'm going back to Wal-Mart to buy cheap poncho's so we can sit during the race and pray they don't postpone it until Sunday, pray the race doesn't end under caution [let those cans fly!] and pray the race isn't shortened due to rain [when it hit's the half way mark of the race] and pray NASCAR doesn't do anything stupid like they have been in the past couple of weeks.
I asked Dad today [and past days as well] if I should take my car to Daytona. I'll decorate it with window paint and write 'Daytona Bound' and write 'Go JR!!!' all over my car. I doubt Louis will let me do it to him. Ha Ha.
