First things first. We have electric!!! We started to get it around 12:30pm-1pm ish and I was like "Woohoo we're getting power!!" But then a huge rain squall came in and that was it. I went to take a scenery tour of the community again. The tree that was down in the townhomes were now 5 house's past where it originally was. Then another tree blocking the road so I couldn't pass. Made a u-turn and decided to go down the street to a mobile home park. [where I used to live back in the day] First off, the place is just disgusting. I wanted to see if any homes were destroyed and there wasn't. I did see a uprooted tree lean on a house but I didn't see any damage on it. It was just disgusting the park was. Nothing what it used to be. Felt so unsafe just driving through it. I took some pictures of the house. Got one of a branch leaning on the shutter. I heard that thing snap around 5:30am, just slammed on the window. Thank God for the shutter. If it wasn't there, there would be a tree branch though a window. Another one was the leaves all over the front door.
I was begging Mom and Dad if they wanted to go to the beach and see the waves crashing. After much pleading, I won. Driving down the roads was just an obstacle. Most of the traffic lights were out and some of the people weren't using it as a 4 way stop sign. Saw alot of trees down in the median of the road and just leaves on the road. We made it to the beach and the waves were just crashing down. NBC 6 were airing on Deerfield Beach [where I was] and saw them. Didn't find any parking around them but did see them. There were some flooding on the road which was blocking parking spots. No beach erosion which was good. Took some great regular and panoramic views of the beach and the pier. The waves were just crashing down and was just great. That's was all I wanted to see was the waves for views.
I was driving back on Lyons and saw blinking lights down my street. That's when we had electric and still have it. So it probably came on 3ish because that was the last time I saw in my car. The Shell gas station on the corner had a tanker trunk there filling it up with fuel. The line was very long, too.
We've been looking for a newspaper and decided to go to the Farm Store to pick one up and also milk cause the one we had spoiled. McDonald's drive thru was long and so was people inside waiting. The store wasn't bad. Had supplies and stuff. The Chinese restaurant was also busy. Never busy on a Sunday, though.
Lost electric for a brief moment but it came back quickly. We ate hot dogs and french fries for dinner...
7pm became a happy moment when I saw a NBC sports promo and then NASCAR! I thought I would never see the race tonight. Every hour they keep breaking in on just weather reports but have the race in the left corner of the screen like PIP. [picture in picture]
One thing I have learned about this: I have taken electricity for granted. For about 30 hours of no electric, I had no TV, no cell on charge and just relied on the radio for news. What I would kill just to see live radar and video from central east coast of FL. Now when we got electric, I was just glued on the TV watching nothing but the news. Just to see another face and another image feels so good.
