This is how I feel going to Daytona this weekend. YES, I will have fun during the Busch race but with Junior's problems and all, it's pure heartbreak.
It started today when Dad was reading an
article in the paper about Junior. It said that Junior might go to Childress and run the 3 car next year because of his troubled year now. I told Dad don't believe it but when Dad showed me the paper, I read it and had nothing to say. I was speechless. Like I couldn't defend my driver.
I come home for lunch [or dinner. whatever they call it now] just in time to watch the start of the race. Within lap three, Junior spins out and his back end is smashed. I was like 'Oh hell no!' I was hoping for a top 10. They interviewed him and I just felt like crying for him. The tone of his emotions spoke like the article I read. He lost first and second gear at the start of the race and it was a new tranny they built. When they asked him "Can you get back in the race?" he said "Imma try... i'm... just irritated. We had a good car, ya know? and the old tranny was pretty dang good. I don't know why they put the new one in."
He later came out.
During the race, Junior mentioned on the radio "don't believe what you read in the papers." and his crew chief, Steve Mieal said "With a family like mine, you don't need to read the papers."
Smoke won the race and Gordo and JJ had tranny problems. YES!
In other racing news...
Martin finished second last night in a rain delay. He's leading the points by seven! Things will look good at Daytona!!
But what pissed me off was what Hammond said about him. Rumors are still going on who will be in the #6 and #2 car and he said Martin will be in the #2. Like hell no he won't be in that car. I heard Jamie McMurray in that car. Pfft. Martin will be in a Chevy.
