I didn't get to read my e-mail yet and the headlines on the front page was about the penalties from Sunday. To speed you up, Sunday was qualifying and NASCAR found something funny with Mickey's carburetor. They found some oil-like substance so they took the carburetor and his car for further inspection. So far, the test results didn't come in yet...
During pre-qualifying inspections, Kasey and Kenseth's car had pulled a Chad Kanus and found "illegal aerodynamic modifications" to the car. Yeah, that's big. So, today comes the big day and announced
the results. Kasey's crew chief gets a four week vacation, 50 points and $50k. Same for Kenseth's crew chief.
Kasey's teammates, Elliott Sadler and Scott Riggs, had modifications to the deck lid and their crew chief gets a two week vacation, 25 points, and $25k.
Damn, what's up with Evernham? He is f-ed for the 500. [evil laugh]
Great article on
SI.com about Junior. 6548764687 reasons why I'm a fan.
Not much of a Bobby Hamilton, Jr. fan [actually don't like the guy] but I felt sorry about his Dad. There is a great interview he did on a
radio show called SpeedFreaks. He talked about getting his ass kicked by a 12 year old kid on video games and the new found respect for Dale Jr and what he went thru when his Dad died. Great interview, for sure.
As for qualifying, it's a Yates/candy front row [M&M's and Snickers] with rookie David Gilliand and veteran Ricky Rudd [who I've met many times. Glad he's back!]
