I went shopping with Mother to Publix to do some grocery shopping. First stop was the Deli dept. where Mom got number 83. Number 83 happens to be Vickers' and Red Bull. I told Mom this was a sign that he might make the race this weekend. Qualifying just ended and he will make the show. Mickey didn't have a fast speed [again] so that's what saved Vickers. Phew.
Now my gripe with NASCAR and NEXTEL. During qualifying, they talked about Robby Gordon has a bare car again this weekend. Actually, he had a sponsor on his car, Motorola, but, NASCAR told him to take the logo off the car because it was a conflict with NEXTEL. What bugged me was that Moto makes the cell phones for NEXTEL. So, how in the hell is that a conflict with NEXTEL. Doesn't Sprint sell Moto's too? Robby made that same point out in
this article. People hate him, but I give the guy credit to a lot of things. I was the only one who cheered him on at Daytona in '05 during driver intros.
Since AT&T bought out Bell South and Cingular,
AT&T is taking NASCAR to court. Jeff Burton has Cingular as the sponsor and all they want to do is change the logo and sponsor name. NASCAR says no because it's not a "Grandfathered sponsor when NEXTEL signed in 2004." Cingular is AT&T. Just the name changed. Company didn't.
Damn, I didn't know I can rant that good! Must of been a good subject...
Did I mention that I saw Smoke in Publix Thursday? He was a nice pin-up of Goody's powder. If I could only find Troy to steal him. Must ask Chris if we are getting him in, too.
